Sudno: Music Video
On August 2026, I was contacted by singer Kaefan, Chicano artist based in Salinas, CA to direct a music video for his song "Sudno" - a song being part of his Debut Album El Baile Gótico. It was a huge honor for me to be contacted by him, as he has steadily become well known in our community for his Cumbia inspired music and clear connection to his Mexican roots.
For this project, Kaefan wanted to capture similar horror/experimental vibes to my directorial debut project El Regreso Del Miedo, and so we landed on the idea of capturing him fighting between his musical persona and his vulnerable identity being tormented by life struggles and anxieties.
Me and my team filmed Kaefan at his Firme Friday concert that took place August 21st at the Santa Cruz Blue Lagoon. In this concert, we were able to capture him on stage, as well as performing scenes we had planned previously for the music video. Our shoot continued afterward as we traveled all over the Santa Cruz/Salinas areas, capturing Kaefan in different liminal spaces. The project is currently in its post-production phase and will be shown very soon!
